Matt Serra, UFC Welterweight ChampThe Terror to Face Matt Hughes, Deigo Sanchez or Josh Koscheck
Matt Serra shocked the world last Saturday night, but who will knockoff the new champ?
Matt Serra, defeated Georges St. Pierre and holds the UFC Welterweight Champion at UFC 69 in Houston, last Saturday night. He knocked out “Rush” in the first round. Serra was considered an underdog for the bout. Serra, at 32-years-old, is well in his prime and has a bright future in the UFC. However, many challengers are lining up for a shot at the winner of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) season four. Rematch for St. Pierre?Even though he lost to Serra last Saturday night, GSP is still one of the best Welterweights in the UFC. This is the second loss for St. Pierre in the UFC.At 25, it’s only a matter of time until St. Pierre is back at the top of the Welterweight mountain. Matt Hughes?Matt Hughes is still up there as one of the best Welterweight fighters not only in the UFC, but in all of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). After defeating Chris Lytle at UFC 69 last month, Hughes is right there at the top of the Welterweight contender’s list. Hughes has beaten a who’s-who’s of Welterweight fighters, including St. Pierre, Frank Trigg, BJ Penn and many more. There’s no denying that Hughes is one of the greatest Welterweights to ever grace the Octagon. TUF Fighters get their shot? What about TUF season one winner Diego Sanchez? He’s one of the hottest stars in the UFC. The only problem with Sanchez is that he lost to TUF season one alum, Josh Koscheck, at UFC 69 last Saturday night. As for Koscheck, he knocked out the no.1 contender last Saturday night. He has an opportunity to face Serra for the Welterweight title and he could get the shot over the summer.
